KRISTIN BERNHARDT, LMT – Massage Supervisor

Massage Therapy Manhattan Plaza Health Club | Kristin Bernhardt - Massage SupervisorKristin is a 1999 graduate of The Swedish Institute. Her specialty is a therapeutic, deep tissue, full-body massage using a variety of techniques from Swedish to myofascial with shiatsu elements & more. Continuing Ed. courses in medical massage have given her the ability to provide focused TMJ work and to include areas that are often overlooked, such as scalenes, SCM, pectoralis muscles & the abdomen. Kristin studied postural corrective techniques with Howard Mermelstein and is certified in pre & post natal massage. While working for 3 years at one of New York’s Elite 5-Star Spas, Kristin received advanced training in luxury spa techniques which she likes to incorporate into her sessions. She also gained 3 valuable years of oncology massage experience working at NYU’s Perlmutter Cancer Center and understands protocols for survivors in recovery.

Kristin is also certified in Rising Star, an energetic healing system similar to Reiki, that channels energy through the chakras. You may request a Rising Star for the last 10 minutes of any session at no additional charge.

Many of Kristin’s clients have discovered that regular massage (even once monthly) can be a wonderful aid to relax the mind and encourage balance in the body. Her background as an actor has taught her to take direction, so Kristin brings this to her work, tailoring sessions to your request. Manhattan Plaza Health Club | Sebastian Bernard Licensed Physical TherapistA massage therapist and body-worker since 1995, Sebastian is a graduate of Swedish Institute of Massage Therapy & Allied Health Institute as well as The Ohashiatsu Institute.

Therapeutic sessions may adapt and integrate Swedish massage techniques & Shiatsu (a century old Japanese tradition – literally translating to “finger pressure”) and the breathing, stretching, active and passive movements of Vital Movement Postures to relieve and correct body imbalances, stimulate the body’s inherent powers of recuperation, and restore and enhance well-being. Techniques may include deep tissue, myofascial, trigger point, shiatsu, sports & medical massage.

Practicing martial arts since 1984; Rank in Okinawan Goju Ryu, American Goju, and Shotokan Systems and a student of Hsing Yi and Tai Chi Chuan. In 1993, Sebastian began teachingTai Chi Chuan at the New York Health and Racquet Clubs, and he has taught Hatha Yoga and martial arts at New York University’s Coles Athletic Center since 1990. Sebastian completed Astanga Yoga teacher training with Manju Jois in 2002 and Teen Yoga teacher training with Karma Kids Yoga in 2015.


johnathan bioHello, you can call me Guillermo or William. I am fluent in Spanish as well as English. Massage therapy is not my job or hobby, it’s my passion. I love to help people out with their stressed bodies by relaxing them and undoing their “knots” or adhesions. My specialty is deep tissue. I love working on tight muscles and loosening my clients up. I’m also good at Swedish massage, reflexology and some thai massage. I usually combine all of these modalities into my massage so not only you can feel relaxed, but you can also feel flexible and ready to tackle the world.
Besides massage therapy I enjoy playing the drums. People can tell by the way I use my tapotement techniques. My rhythm and flow during a massage is enhanced by my drumming skills. I can keep a steady pace or a fast rhythmic pace depending on the client’s energy and comfort.
My goal down the road is to become a chiropractor and not only help my clients feel relaxed but to also help with alignment and posture.

Me gusta ayudar a la gente con su cuerpo estresados para relajarlos i deshacer sus nudos a adherencias. Mi especialidad es en el tejido profundo. Me encanta trabajar en músculos tensos i aflojarlos. También soy bueno en Reflexología, masaje Sueco y algo de masaje Tailandés. Yo suelo combinar todas estas modalidades en mi masaje así que no solamente puede sentirse relajado, pero también puede sentirse flexible y listo para enfrentar al mundo.
Aparte de la terapia de masaje a mi me gusta tocar los tambores, la gente puede decir por el modo que yo uso mis técnicas tapotement. Tym Byers Licensed Massage Therapist - Manhattan Plaza Health ClubTym has an artistic and athletic approach to massage. He holds a BFA from NYU-Tisch School of the Arts in Dance Performance and Choreography and an Associates Degree in Occupational Health from the Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences. He’s been a theater and dance teaching artist for Alvin Ailey Arts in Education since 2007. As a professional dancer, Tym understands how to manipulate the body and locate the source of discomfort and muscle soreness. And with his dance background, he seamlessly moves through the major muscle groups with a legato technique. His sessions relieve tension, improve circulation and increase relaxation. Tym specializes in Swedish, Deep Tissue & Sports massage. He also incorporates Eastern modalities such as Shiatsu and Thai massage into his sessions, as well as reflexology, trigger point and myofascial release techniques.


Manhattan Plaza Health Club | Claire Calhoun Licensed Massage TherapistClaire has been practicing massage since 2005 and truly loves helping her clients. She has worked in spas, gyms and medical offices. Claire is trained in deep tissue, Swedish, prenatal, neuromuscular & trigger point therapies as well as postural analysis.

When not working, she’s likely walking her dog in Central Park, catching up on NPR podcasts, or watching a movie with friends.



Pascale graduated from The Swedish Institute in 2000. She came to Massage Therapy after working 10 years as a Personal trainer and Flexibility Specialist, graduating from the NYU, Health Fitness Specialist program. Pascale has been featured in popular Health and Fitness magazines, including Brides, Marie Claire, Health for Women, American Health, The Knot (Brides Magazine’s online magazine) and AARP’s Friends’ Issue. Pascale continues to strengthen her knowledge of holistic Eastern and Western massage techniques with frequent mentoring and training. Her specialties include corrective Postural Corrective Massage, Trigger Point, Sports Massage, Deep tissue, Myofascial, Neuromuscular Therapy, and The Wharton’s Active Isolated facilitated stretching, excellent for increasing range-of-motion, reducing injuries in runners and fitness enthusiasts. She is also certified by the American College of Sports Medicine, American Fitness Aerobics Association and in Burnham Systems Natural Facelift,which improves muscle and skin tone, and brings skin cells a fresh flow of lymph, blood, and oxygen. Pascale also has a Masters in Education degree from Bank Street College of Education and is currently enrolled in prerequisite course work towards a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy. Pascale believes that mindfulness, awareness and self-care are important elements to creating a vibrant healthy and happy life.

I graduated from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine and have been practicing for a couple of years. I enjoy massage therapy and love learning new ways to tend to my clients needs. Getting client feedback during the massage helps me learn what feels great to you, since everyone has individual preferences and goals.

I developed my own style of deep tissue massage with a Swedish, soothing touch, that includes sports work.


Trish is a NYS licensed massage therapist that can offer a gentle touch to quiet the mind, create a feeling of calmness and relieve muscle tension due to repetitive injuries, inactivity or the rigors we impose with daily life.

She has gained an appreciation of the human body and its need for healing through her twenty years of experience as a professional dancer. With this knowledge, she will bring equilibrium back into your life and allow you to perform at optimum levels. A graduate of the Swedish Institute School of Massage Therapy, Trish trained in myofascial, trigger point, shiatsu, sports massage, Swedish, reflexology and PNF techniques.

Her clients include cancer patients, marathon runners, Radio City Rockettes, B-way musicians / performers and countless others. She is a proud member of SAG, AFTRA, AEA, and AMTA. Trish believes by touching the body, we touch every event it has experienced. For a few brief moments we hold all of a client’s stories in our hands.


Cathy is a nationally certified LMT & a graduate of The Swedish Institute. Since she was a serious gymnast in Poland, from ages 7-17, Cathy has an affinity for athletes. She loves doing myofascial, deep tissue and medical massage, and she also holds a certification in Prenatal & Post Partum massage. In addition, Cathy has studied Reflexology Level 1 & some Craniosacral.
Cathy will evaluate your body’s needs and tailor a massage incorporating various modalities including shiatsu & trigger point, as needed. She may also offer some stretches or specific exercises to help with tension or imbalances. Member: AMTA


Manhattan Plaza Health Club Manhattan New York | Antonio Valladares LMTAntonio Valladares has been a licensed massage therapist and exercise specialist for two decades in NYC. Antonio graduated from Swedish Institute and has years of professional development in various therapeutic massage modalities. His focus is on therapeutic sports massage and restorative bodywork for athletes and dancers and helping people with chronic pain and overuse injuries.

Antonio’s integrated bodywork is designed to reduce chronic pain and assist recovery from common issues such as low back pain, TMJ, tennis elbow and recovery from injury or surgery. His work has been featured in Sports Illustrated, New York Times, Time Out, Mountain Bike magazine and more.


Rasalind has been working at St. Elizabeth Ann’s Health and Rehabilitation Center for the past seven years. She comes to MPHC as a graduate of Queens College with a double major- Business Management and Physical Education. She is also a graduate of the Swedish Institute with an extensive background in the fitness industry as a personal trainer and fitness instructor. Rasalind received her certification in MotherMassage * in Spring of 2009 for pregnancy, post-partum and labor support massage from Elaine Stillerman.

While working for St. Elizabeth Ann’s as a recreational fitness therapist and massage therapist, Rasalind has had the opportunity to deal with residents who have been inflicted with several different illnesses, such as stroke, traumatic brain injuries, arthritis etc. She feels rewarded to make a difference in their lives, helping them to increase or maintain range of motion and feel more comfortable, both mentally and physically through therapeutic touch. Deep Tissue Massage, Sports Massage with PNF stretching and Swedish Massage are Rasalind’s specialties.

Natasha is a graduate of Hunter College’s Physical Education Department where she obtained a B.S. in Exercise Physiology. Prior to her becoming Fitness Director here at MPHC, she worked as a physical therapist aide in clinical and outpatient settings, creating individual rehabilitation programs. She swam her way to the top as a competitive swimmer for 12 years and understands the kind of dedication and motivation one needs in order to reach their fitness goals. Utilizing her extensive knowledge of Kinesiology and human movement, she has the ability to design a program that will sculpt, strengthen, and metamorphosize you!


Anthony is a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise and has been training clients of all ages and abilities in NYC since 2001. He began calling the gym his second home at the age of 14 and since then, has spent those years familiarizing himself with all aspects of strength, weight, and cardiovascular training. An avid swimmer, diver, tri-athlete, cyclist, and runner, personal training is just an extension of his already active lifestyle which he is excited to share with you.

He will not only take you through hand-picked exercises, he will show you what they do, and how to continue your training into the future. Let him construct you a unique, goal-oriented weight-training and cardio-vascular program that will transform your body and, most likely, your life!


Nick is an Air Force veteran going to school for a doctorate’s degree in physical therapy. He found his passion for sports at an early age, wrestling for twelve years, but it was during his first deployment that Nick fell in love with the anatomy and physiology aspect of lifting weights. After acquiring a science background at Hunter College, he obtained his personal training certification via International Sports Science Association. “I’m a firm believer of listening to your body. Let me help you transform your body into a better and healthier you.”


Even though he did not realize it until he was in college at Binghamton University, health and fitness had always been among Pedro’s core values. After registering for an aerobics class, he came to acknowledge this action as his first step toward giving him the motivation to become a fitness professional.

Since then, he has become certified as a group exercise and kickboxing instructor through AFAA, as well as an indoor cycling instructor through Mad Dogg Spinning. His mentor also introduced him to the study of personal training with the American College of Sports Medicine.

Pedro always gets to know his client and their motivations first so that he can provide them with the best individualized health and fitness plan. When performing exercises, Pedro stresses technique, proper form and safty first. “I’m always learning more about the fitness industry and am eager to share what I learn.”


Miles Haas was born and raised in New York City and has been involved in many different training styles throughout his life. At an early ages, he embarked on his intensely physical lifestyle. Today, he trains competitively in Power-lifting and has competed in the USAPL Albany Strength Power-lift Championships where he took home first place.

He is certified through the International Sports Science Association and has been training people for the past five years. He is a strong advocate of functional training and integrating strength into his programs. His mission is to pin point the various goals of his clientele and provide the fastest, most effective means for acquiring them.



As an A.C.E. certified personal trainer, Marc has been involved in the fitness industry for over 15 years. His expertise lies in the area of weight loss via strength training.

Furthermore, his knowledge of optimum cardiovascular aerobic exercise rounds out a regimen for novices, as well as for those eager to “shake up” their routines through weight training, boxing, kettle bells, and core work. Manhattan Plaza Health Club - Michael JacksonAll of Mike’s life, he has had a passion for fitness. That desire drove Mike to become a Personal Trainer through the National Gym Association. Mike has used his knowledge of Fitness to help clients of all ages and physical abilities reach their goals whether it consists of strength training or patient rehabilitation at the Pascak Valley Hospital located in Ridgewood New Jersey. Fitness brings a quality of life like no other: LIFE, HAPPINESS, HEALTH. Mike’s passion for fitness is contagious and he doesn’t mind spreading it to you!


Lisa has fitness certifications from New York University, the American Aerobic Association International, and the American Council on Exercise, which certify her as a personal trainer. Coupled with her education, Lisa’s fitness background comes from five years of personal training and classroom aerobic instruction. Look for her to help you achieve your personal best in fitness training with a focus on body sculpting, strength, and flexibility. Lisa believes physical fitness and peace of mind go hand-in-hand.



Emanuela is a fitness trainer certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She believes anyone, at anytime, can become vital, energetic and balanced. She grew up in Europe, traveled to the U.S. and landed in New York City. She began her life in NYC as a mime artist, performed in theatre, and acted in and directed plays and films throughout the city. She has been a hiker and skier since childhood, scaling mountains from Switzerland to the Catskills.

She began weight training for health reasons and loved it, keeping at it after she saw her body build muscles, strength, and flexibility. She realized that if you bring new and challenging exercises into your workout, it will improve your life in all aspects. In addition, she became licensed after studying The Stretching Process. If you need more attention in that area, she can give you a complete body stretch. “Come on back into your body, and let me guide and inspire you through wellness to reach your body’s goals of tone, strength and flexibility.
